Modular and efficient.

Depending on the amount of heat generated and the internal and external temperatures, various different cooling concepts are applied to keep electronics cabinets effectively cooled. These may use airfiltered fans, fan trays or controlled airflow systems through to air/air or air/water heat exchangers and compressor-driven air conditioners.

The realisation of effective cooling solutions always demands a high level of engineering and consultancy input. A decisive factor for the use of air/water heat exchangers, notably, is the construction of the necessary infrastructure, in particular the water supply. Our many years of experience, supported by simulation programmes, provide the knowledge and assurance that this requires.

Solutions for high density servers.

The VARISTAR LHX series.

Cooling of up to 40 kW. In the VARISTAR LHX Schroff has developed a space-independent cooling concept as a complete cabinet system. The system is capable of extracting heat from installed components at a rate of up to 40 kW. The air/water heat exchanger is inserted as a complete module into the left-hand or right-hand side of the cabinet (horizontal air movement). This leaves the full height (42 U) of the 19" plane available. During operation, individually exchangeable fans ensure the uniform cooling of all components throughout the cabinet. The system stands out for its high energy efficiency, with low energy consumption fans and the optimum regulation of the water and air circuits, low noise level is naturally also achieved.

Performance for industrial environments.


For industrial-sector applications and for instrumentation and control systems, Schroff's new VARISTAR LHX 3 offers an optimised complete cabinet solution with air/water heat exchanger (AWHE) offering up to 3 kW of cooling capacity. This operates independently of its surroundings. The warmed air is drawn by a fan in the top of the cabinet into air channels running down the side panels to the AWHE, where it is cooled. The cool air is then directed back into the bottom of the cabinet. The system generates only a very low noise level of 45.2 dB(A). The cabinet meets protection type IP 55 and is designed to accept a maximum static load of 800 kg on the 19" plane. The heat exchanger is integrated into the base of the cabinet.
